TV series Review: TWISTED

twisted“Twisted” centers on a charismatic 16-year-old with a troubled past, who recently reconnected with his two female best friends from childhood. He becomes the prime suspect when a fellow student is surprisingly found dead in her home.

Formerly known as “Socio”, the series was renamed to be more emblematic of its murder mystery format. Due to the Sandy Hook shootings in late 2012, there was some concern that ABC Family would not pick up the show. Executive produced by Gavin Polone, David Babcock and Adam Milch,
who also wrote the pilot.

“Les Miserables” Leads the Way with 10 Nominations for Satellite Awards

satellite-awards-nominations_tmbLucas Shaw of Reuters says “Les Miserables” secured 10 nominations for the International Press Academy’s Satellite Awards, leading all possible entrants for the 17th annual event. This year’s awards will take place December 16 at Los Angeles’ Intercontinental Hotel. Last year, “The Descendants” came out on top at the Satellites, though “The Artist” later triumphed at the Academy Awards.

For this year’s nominees, Tom Hooper’s adaptation of the book turned iconic musical led all films with four acting nominations and a sweep of the costume, art and sound categories. Hugh Jackman’s performance of “Suddenly” also earned a nomination for best song.

Les Miserables the MovieLes Miserables” secured 10 nominations but was left out of both the directing and writing categories. Reflecting the diverse group of contenders in the 2012 race, a large number of films secured more than five nominations. “Lincoln” earned the second most – eight – as Steven Spielberg’s take on the final months of the 16th President’s life earned nods for Best Picture, Director, Actor and Supporting Actor – among other categories. Composer John Williams earned a nomination for Best Score.

“Silver Linings Playbook” and “The Master” both earned seven nominations apiece, faring particularly well in the acting fields. Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert DeNiro all received nominations for “Silver Linings” while Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams are all up for awards for their work in “The Master.”

“Anna Karenina,” “Life of Pi” and “Flight” all earned six nominations, the former benefiting from its elaborate costumes and sets and the second two for visual and sound effects. Among distributors, The Weinstein Company topped all competitors with 20 nominations thanks largely to “Silver Linings” and “The Master,” while both Columbia Pictures and Universal snagged 12nominations.

On the TV side, critical darlings, such as ‘The Big Bang Theory” and “Homeland,” earned multiplenominations in the comedy and drama categories, respectively. “Game Change” earned the mostnominations on the Miniseries/TV Movie side, earning a nod as the best overall as well as three acting nominations for Julianne Moore, Woody Harrelson and Sarah Paulson. The IPA also gives out of special achievement awards, and this year’s winners includeQuvenzhané Wallis from “Beast of the Southern Wild” (Newcomer Award) and legendary editor and sound designer Walter Murch, who won the Nikola Tesla Awrard for visionary achivement in filmmaking technology.

‘Best torrent sites’ as requested by our subscribers

Where Users Find Music and Movie Files

What is a torrent? A torrent is a file sent via the Torrent protocol. It can be just about any type of file, such as a movie, song, game, or application. During the transmission, the file is incomplete and therefore is referred to as a torrent. Torrent downloads that have been paused or stopped cannot be opened as regular files, since they do not contain all the necessary data. However, they can often be resumed using a Torrent client, as long as the file is available from another server.

Torrents are different from regular downloads in that they are usually downloaded from more than one server at a time. The Torrent protocol uses multiple computers to transfer a single file, thereby reducing the bandwidth required by each server. When a torrent download is started, the Torrent system locates multiple computers with the file and downloads different parts of the file from each computer. Likewise, when sending a torrent, the server may send the file to multiple computers before it reaches the recipient. The result is a lower average bandwidth usage, which speeds up file transfers.

Top Torrent sites (in random order after our most favorite)

This is our personal favorite. You will only find Scene (and reputable ‘Non-Scene’ Groups) releases here. – Crystal Clean files – Fast Speed – FAST PRE RELEASE TIMING – Clean & No Virus !

Torrent Funk

Torrent Funk is a crowd pleaser. TF employs ‘verified torrent’ tagging to help reduce the number of fakes you will experience. Additionally, the cross-movie recommendations are very helpful, and multiple readers have strongly recommended Torrent Funk.  Give this site a try and let us know if you like it.

Isohunt is offered at three different servers:  ‘Isohunt Lite’,  ‘’. and the original The Canadian Recording Industry Association forcibly compelled Isohunt in April of 2010 to change its torrent indexing, or else be prosecuted for secondary copyright infringement.  Accordingly, Isohunt Lite is formatted to be a form of ‘Web-wide torrent Google’, but with the sorting, ranking, and user rating features of continues to operate under an umbrella of threat of being shut down, so don’t wait to use this service while you can. Details of the CRIA lawsuit are available at the Isohunt Lite web page above.

2011: has been fueled by adult advertising.  It’s not quite pornographic, but Russian dating service ads abound.  This will be a turnoff for some users, but the service is still one of the very best torrent indices you will find online.

NEW: BitSnoop was recommended by reader Ricardo, who speaks very highly about its navigability, reliability, and clean design. Using a growing community of users to help police the content, BitSnoop offers minimal advertising and reassuring tagging of good torrents. Look for the green ‘verified’ tags, and you’re bound to find good downloads here. Definitely try, and let us know what you think of this newer site.

Demonoid is the benchmark private torrent site. All other private P2P communities compare themselves to Demonoid, and even with the massive competition, Demonoid still remains a top site in the eyes of downloaders everywhere. If you successfully get a registered membership at Demonoid, do not abuse it. Thousands of people are happy to take your spot if you do not share files and maintain your requisite ratio.

The Pirate Bay

Back in April 18, 2009: the Stockholm district court sentenced the four Pirate Bay founders to a year in prison, and over $USD 3.5 million in fines. This is as punishment for violating their country’s copyright laws. Since then, TPB has come back with a revised format hosted in a different country.  TPB is a resilient fixture in the P2P world, and loyal users continue to support this excellent site.

Torrent Pond has been recommended by several users.  As a meta-searcher, Torrentpond will scour other sites for you, atempt to filter out old and fake torrents, and then offer you an easy-to-browse list.  It also showcases recent torrents, which is a good feature for regular downloaders. The advertising is plentiful, and you will need to tune it out and go around some popups, but the thorough searches are often worth it. offers something really unique: IMDB ratings and vote information right on the search page. You can see public opinions on the movie itself before you download.

Special thanks to reader, RJ, for this recommendation. The “verified” filtering feature of this site makes it a good choice for downloaders.

ShareReactor is a search engine for both bit torrents and eDonkey 2000 (“ed2k”) file formats. While eDonkey is not nearly as popular today as it was in 2002, some people still use ed2k networking.

GPirate claims to be the largest torrent search engine today. It does have an amateurish look and feel to its interface, but it does yield large result sets. Give GPirate a try, and let us know if you like the service.

Blues Brothers is a private site with a strong community and file-sharing ethic. As a private site, you can expect the leeching (selfish) users to be reduced. The BB community also strives to police itself by carefully watching each member’s upload ratio… if you abuse your ratio, you are blocked from downloading until you donate. This policy may seem a bit harsh, but members seem to really appreciate it.

Fenopy has some compelling features. Fenopy is fully integrated with IMDB and radio, so it has some friendly methods for browsing and discovering movies and music. A graphics gallery of large and motivating thumbnails adorns the home page, and the fake finderfeature is also very useful for avoiding bad files. Definitely give Fenopy a try.

Rise of the Planets of the Apes 2011

Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2011.

This film shows the action of an ape with high-level intelligence, which may be more than human beings fettered by the pride of life. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is directed Rupert Wyatt and starring James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, and Andy Serkis.

The film is written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver is an origin story in the true sense of the word, Rise of the Planet of the Apes is set in present day San Francisco. The film is out in theaters August 5th, 2011.

Synopsis: (WARNING: Spoilers ahead)

Will Rodman (James Franco) is a San Francisco scientist who has been trying to develop a cure for Alzheimer’s disease by testing a genetically engineered retrovirus on chimpanzees. The virus mutates the chimpanzees, giving them a human level of intelligence. One of his test subjects, a female chimpanzee, goes on a rampage because she believes her baby, to whom she secretly gave birth, is threatened. She is killed after disrupting a board meeting. Will’s boss Steven Jacobs (David Oyelowo) orders subordinate Robert Franklin (Tyler Labine) to put all the test chimpanzees down, but he cannot bring himself to kill the chimpanzee’s baby, and instead gives him to Will, who names him Caesar (Andy Serkis) and raises him in his house. Caesar has inherited his mother’s high intelligence, and learns quickly.

Three years later, Will gives a sample of his cure to his father, Charles (John Lithgow), who is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. At first, his father improves but, five years later, his body’s immune system fights off the virus and his dementia returns. In his dementia, Charles gets into his neighbor’s car and damages it, angering the neighbor (David Hewlett). As he threatens Charles and pushes him down, the onlooking Caesar attacks him. After the incident, Caesar is forced to leave Will’s house and is held in a San Bruno primate facility run by John Landon (Brian Cox). The apes are treated cruelly by Landon’s son Dodge (Tom Felton) who works as a guard there. Caesar is initially treated poorly by both the staff and the other apes. When Dodge brings his friends into the facility, one of them gets too close to Caesar’s cage and is grabbed by Caesar, who steals his pocket knife, later using it to escape his cell. Caesar then frees a gorilla named Buck and, with his help, gains dominance over the other apes.

Meanwhile, Will creates a more powerful form of the virus to further treat his father and new tests on chimpanzees begin. Testing on abonobo named Koba reveals that it strengthens the intelligence of the apes even further. However, it is fatal to humans, unbeknownst to the scientists. Franklin is exposed to the new virus and begins sneezing out blood. He accidentally sneezes on Will’s neighbor, and is later found dead in his apartment. Will attempts to warn Jacobs against further testing, but when Jacobs plans to continue it, Will quits his job.

Caesar eventually escapes from the primate facility and travels to Will’s house, where he steals an airborne strain of the new virus and releases it throughout the cage area, enhancing the intelligence of his fellow apes. He beats Dodge down and, after showing his first capability of speech by shouting “No!” at him, electrocutes him by spraying him with a hose while his stun stick is activated. The apes at the facility escape into the city, releasing the remaining apes from Will’s former place of work and from San Francisco Zoo.

The apes then force their way past a police blockade of the Golden Gate Bridge meant to stop them from crossing. Jacobs arrives in a helicopter and one of his crewmen begins gunning down apes. Buck sacrifices himself to take down the helicopter, which crashes on the bridge, killing everyone inside except Jacobs. He begs for help, but his helicopter is pushed down into the bay below by Koba. The apes make it into the Muir Woods National Monument forest. Will arrives at the forest and is attacked by Koba, but Caesar stops him from harming Will. Will warns Caesar that humans are strong, but tells him that he can protect him if he returns home. Caesar, now capable of speech, tells him that “Caesar is home” in the redwood forest. Meanwhile, the virus responsible for raising the apes’ intelligence has started a global pandemic among humans.
